Come on.
Thats an extremely possible scenario.
We should just ban school from the world.
Its too hazardous....

.... No?
Ugh, fine.
I guess I'll just try to enjoy my last week of summer.
It shall include the zoo, the planetarium, cool science movies, a student film festival-type thing, and lots of hours spent editing a documentary.
Not too shabby, I suppose.
What are you doing this week?
Whether it be your last week of summer or not,
Lets try to make it memorable, yeah?
Do AT LEAST one super awesome thing this week and let me know about it.
Cause I just love it when I hear from you all.
Whoever you are.

I'm gonna go paint my nails now.

I really have no idea what I want to write about.
Well, thats a lie.
I want to write about Lorenzo.
.... Or Romeo.
.... Or Charlie.
Or whatever you want to call the ideal man after watching Letters to Juliet.
Which I just did with my mother.
As far as chick flicks go, it was a good one.
At the end, I found myself smiling for the characters.
And not a "Thats so sweet" closed mouth smile.
A "I'm so happy for them" teeth-baring smile.
So now I'm listening to the pop-iest love songs I have,
The kind of songs that make me want to grab my hairbrush, jump on my bed, and sing along.
Aka: lots of T-Swifty, some Jon McLaughlin a la Enchanted, Kissin U by Miranda Cosgrove, and Kate Nash amongst others.
(You should feel honored.
I just admitted some of my guiltiest music pleasures there.)
Really though,
I have no shame.
I've danced around in my room to You Belong with Me, or the iCarly theme song many a time.
Oh my gosh, I'm twelve.
Haha. Meh.
Honestly.
No shame.

I suppose that can be all for today, as I dont know what else to write about.
And now I want to go dance around in my room.
So my question for you today is: what are some of your guilty pleasures?
Come on - just admit it.

-Adriana

Disclaimer: I'm not saying iCarly is a guilty pleasure. That show is pure pleasure. I dont care if I'm 17, I love it so. Have you ever watched it? I bet you would love it. Or not. Whatever. I'm not judging - and neither should you.

I wish I was brave enough to carry around an umbrella.
To carry it around and actually use it, mind you.
I have an umbrella,
A cute one, even,
But I'm too scared to ever whip it out.
I'm afraid I'll look too silly.
I dont live in New York,
Where people walk so much they NEED umbrellas.
Or I dont live in Seattle.
Where it rains so frequently it would be foolish not to have one.
I live in Utah.
Where people dont commonly use umbrellas.
But I want to.
I just wish I had the guts to.
I wish I had an excuse to.
I wish I was going for a walk in the park in the warm April rain.
I wish my school was close enough that I could walk to, all the while shielding myself from those showers that promise May flowers.
(Though not the Mayflowers that promise pilgrims. Thats a different season.)
I wish I didnt need an excuse.
I wish I could just be brave enough to take out an umbrella during the brief minutes that I'm outside.
Walking from the house to the car, and the car to the school.
(Wow. That sounded pathetic.
"You need to get out more," right?)
Anyhow,
I sort of love umbrella's.
And I sort of hate that where I live its not normal to just walk around using them.
I also sort of hate that in Utah we dont necessarily have April Showers.
We have April Snow Storms.
Where's the magic in using an umbrella during that??

Tell me - do you use an umbrella?
Take a picture of it, and send me a link!
(I'll post a picture of mine later.
I'm too lazy to go grab it from my sisters car right now.)

-Adriana

P.s. Arent these umbrellas(/slash/the way they match their tights) adorable?
I want an umbrella with ears or eyes of some sort.
Like the first picture, too!

How did everyone's Earth Hour go?

Mine was very successful!
Want proof?
Here's a super-short video of me turning off the lights, set to cool music.
Song = Hus Vid Havet by Detektivbyran
(When I showed this to my brother he said "coooool" sarcastically. Fair warning.)

During Earth Hour, I read.
Not super creative.
But super entertaining when youre reading The Last Song by Nicolas Sparks.
As much as I do NOT like the way Miley Cyrus acts, I MUST go watch the movie now.
The book is fantastic.
I recommend it fo' sho.

Thats all for now.
But I have another post in mind for later.
And another feature post scheduled.
Three posts in one day?
You know how I do.
=)

Today, I woke up and I wanted Spaghetti-O's.
I opened the can, poured it into a bowl, and popped it into the microwave.
When it came out, I realized...
This is a LOT of Spaghetti-O's.
I offered some to my brother, hoping he would split it with me, to no avail.
So I decided I would eat what I could, and put the rest in the fridge for later.
So there I was,
Watching Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on DVR, and happily munching away on my Spaghetti-O's with a green spoon.
(Yes, I eat my Spaghetti-O's with a spoon, not a fork.)
When I decided I was full, I was still watching TV.
So I set the bowl aside telling myself I would put it away when I was done.
Then my father came in and asked me to clean the kitchen.
I happily obliged.
(With absolutely no sarcasm in that last line. I was strangely ok with being asked to clean. Which was odd for me.)
I happily obliged, and went to the kitchen.
After doing the dishes and cleaning the counters, I moved on to the floor.
I started prepping it for brooming/mopping by picking up large pieces of garbage off the floor.
Next to my dogs kennel was a broken green spoon.
I picked it up, thinking dang puppy and threw it away.
I broomed.
I mopped.
I was done.
I moved back into the TV room and decided I would finish this episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon later.
Turning off the TV, I grabbed my bowl.
And noticed it was empty.
My eyebrows furrowed.
Really? Had I eaten all of it, and didnt remember?
Surely I wasnt THAT forgetful.
Or that pathetic, that I ate without noticing.
No.
I specifically remember not eating all of it.
Confused, I took the bowl to the kitchen and put it in the sink.
On my way, I saw my dog.
And it clicked.
The empty bowl, the broken green spoon near his kennel, the guilty look in his eye.
Jack had eaten my Spaghetti-O's.
For some, this might not be a big deal.
But in our house it is a strict rule that the dog isnt supposed to eat human food.
I looked down at my dog and put my hand on my hips.
"Did you eat my Spaghetti-O's?" I asked.
He simply looked at me.
I asked again.
He looked down for a second then looked back up at me again.
Busted.
I thought of all the rules he had broken.
He went into the TV room (which he isnt supposed to do.)
Climbed onto the couch (which he isnt supposed to be on) to reach my bowl
And ate my food (which he isnt supposed to eat.)
I shook my head at him and he scurried away.
Ah, pets.
Luckily for him I found it more amusing than anything so I let him get away with it.
That conniving little fur ball.

(P.s. The picture is from http://poppopportraits.blogspot.com
Its this lovely blog that features original art done by the blogger herself.
Her drawings are charming beyond belief.
A charm that is aided by little background stories of each of her characters.

In other (happier) news, I mentioned yesterday being the perfect day.
And in post twelve (I think it was) I said that the perfect day would be set to the perfect playlist.
Well turns out the perfect playlist consists of 20 or so Vampire Weekend songs.
And turns out its more of a setlist than a playlist.
Yes, my dear friends, the signs are all pointing to what you think they're pointing to.
The Vampire Weekend concert.
Did I ever mention I like Vampire Weekend?
(sarcasm)
The concert was perfection.
There really is no other way to describe it.
Bee and I left right after school to wait at the venue, and ended up waiting in life from 3:00 to 7:00.
Dedication, yo's.
We waited in the wind and rain but it was one thousand percent worth it when we were the very first ones in line/ the very first ones in the venue/ front and center.
We all joked about wanting to be so close we could see the sweat drip off their faces,
But we actually ended up being so close, we did see sweat drip off ther faces.
Not only that,
We were so close we could actually see the color of Ezra Koenig's eyes.
It was literally us -> the bar -> the stage.
I got so into every single song.
Every time they played, it was like experiencing music on a whole other level.
A level of enlightenment.
(^ To quote a book that I'm sure most of you wandering on my blog have read.)
I dont think I've ever danced so hard in my life.
And how could you not?
Song after song was just incredible.
The energy that the band had on stage was infectious.
You couldnt help but moves your hips like Ezra Koening.
You couldnt help but imitate Chris Baios slow-bounce movement.
You couldnt help but be as excited about the beats as Chris Tomson was.
You couldnt help but appreciate all the wicked instrumental work Rostam Batmanglij did on... everything.
You just couldnt help it.
At times, randomly during a song, Chris Baio would look around, or look behind him, and just start laughing.
And you laughed too.
Nothing was funny,
But it was just such an amazing energy that you had to laugh.
Though, the energy did have its downfalls.
Being up at the front,
Right up against the fence,
Did mean that when the crowd got a little too excited, they pushed and pushed you against the bar
And were literally crushing your lungs to the point where it was hard to breath.
I have bruises on my knees/forearms/chest.
But like I said to Bee every time it got a little too rough:
"For Vampire Weekend!"
It was like our battle-cry of the night.
Half the time I didnt even notice I was being pushed within an inch of my life.
I was so immersed in what was happening in front of me.
Ezra Koenig noticed, though.
And he mentioned twice to watch out for the folks in the front.
Being in the front, he looked my way.
We made eye contact twice.
And he nodded at me once.
In the deep realms of his subconcious, Ezra Koenig knows I exist.
Life: complete.
Everything about the night was magical and glorious and perfect and every other adjective that could describe the infinity of the night.
(And I use infinity in an "infinitely perfect" type of way. Not in a number type of way.)
At the end of the concert, Ezra and Chris (Baio) threw their guitar picks out into the crowd.
They got slapped onto the floor, by someone in the front, and it turned into war.
And understanding how important it was to me, my sister enlisted.
And, true to her nature, she won.
I have Ezra Koenigs pick.
His pick!
The only one that he used all night.
You can see where the text rubbed off on the back, because he was holding it.
He didnt switch it out like most musicians do during a concert.
He used this one pick.
And I have it.
This is the pick he used to play Walcott, Mansard Roof, Oxford Comma, White Sky...
When I came to this realization at the concert, I literally almost teared up.
Thats how awesome and influential they are.

(our sweet view/Ezra's pick/Ezra's pick[worn side]/venue where they played)

(shirt I got at the concert)

*Sigh*
It was perfect.
Now what I wanna know is,
What's the best concert you've been to / why?

-Adriana

They give excuses saying they've been busy with school, with work, what have you.
I am not here to say any of that.
I am simply here to blog.
Blog about music.
I was making a CD for my friends and as I was putting the playlist together I figured, why not make a playlist blog?
So here we go.

SPRING ELECTRONS

I noticed Ive been drawn to electronic-esque music lately.
Which is a bit strange for me, but I like it.
And also, i've been drawn to music that warms my insides and reminds me of Spring.
This playlist is a 15 song fusion of the two.
Ergo the playlist name: "Spring Electrons"
So get out your dancing pumps and your Ray Bans, and enjoy.
(p.s. songs of note will be italicized. If you feel so inclined to download and listen to a few of these songs, I suggest you start with the ones either embedded or italicized.)
(Though I really hope you give all the songs a listen.)

Lets start off the playlist with.....

Hello Sunshine - Syd Matters
Yes, this a cover of Hello Sunshine by Super Furry Animals. Yes, it's from The O.C. They use this song in the fourth season when Summer meets Seth at the airport, in Rhode Island. Cue slow-mo, small hair flip, and breath intake from Seth. Can you blame him? Listen to the song. You'll take in a breath too.

Swing Tree - Discovery
I downloaded this song, and forgot about it. I didn't think about it twice and moved on. Recently, I rediscovered it (no pun intended.) As I was listening to it for the third time around, I REALLY listened to it. And I noticed something... This band reminds me an awful lot of Vampire Weekend. There was just something about the mixing of the voices, and the synthetic piano, and SOMETHING, that reminded me of Vampire Weekend. So I googled this band, and read up on them. And what did I find? Discovery is the love child of Wes Miles from Ra Ra Riot and Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend. ... I think it's safe to say that I'm awesome and I know my music. And that this song is even more awesome than I am. See if you can spot the VW influence in it.

Oh Boy - Miss Li
I have a sneaking suspicion that this song was on a commercial or something. With good reason, I guess. It perky and playful and I love it.

Sleepyhead - Passion Pit
If this song doesn't get you moving, I don't know what will. Sway, and feel alive.

Dance Anthem of the 80's - Regina Spektor
Regina Spektor is the epitome of cool. And also, this song is even called Dance Anthem... need I say more?

Terminally Chill - Neon Indian
Combine this song with sunshine, bubbles, dance, and bright yellow sunglasses. Means for a great day.

To Kingdom Come - Passion Pit
Think of a summer nights sky full of stars. Close your eyes. Breath in the air. Dance.

Red Sweater - The Aquabats
My brother and his band do a cover this song when they play shows. Everytime it gets me off my feet. (Not skanking, though, cause I'm horrible at it.) However, if you know the art of skanking please skank away. If you don't, simply get into it. It's not hard.

I Want You To - Weezer
I love this song. So much. It's impossible for me to listen to it and not be bursting with movement on the inside. Refrain from listening to this song somewhere where you're not comfortable dancing. Cause you MUST. End of story. Period.

Feel The Love - Cut Copy
Yes. Feel the love. Live the love. Dance the love.

Help Im Alive - Metric
I owe this song discovery to my sister, Ingrid. She loves it so much - her enthusiasm about it is contagious. Throw your fists up and punch the air during the bridge, and dance to the chorus. It'll make you feel good.

Plastic Stars - Freezepop
Drive on an isolated road, with the windows down, listening to this song. Just trust me.

When I Goosestep - The Shins
This song is different then the other songs on the playlist. But they're The Shins and they're awesome so it doesnt matter.

The Importance of Being - Northern Two
I hesitate putting this song in. It's a good song, don't get me wrong. But there is controversy about who sings it. Some say it's Postal Service, some say it's Northern Two. Both deny any involvement in the song. I'm sure it's not Postal Service - the vocals definitely don't belong to Ben Gibbard. I'm going to say it's Northern Two, but I suppose that's just opinion. Cause the source of this song is a mystery. Anyhoo, it's a good song. Whoever it is was definitely channeling Postal Service, which makes it enjoyable to listen to nonetheless.

Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
This song is beautiful. I'm pretty sure this is the song that plays on 500 Days of Summer when they are out and about looking at architecture. Paired with this song, its the picture perfect date.

Voila! I hope you all take the time to check out a few of the songs. They're worth it. Promise.
If you do listen to the all the songs, let me know what you think!
Even if you only listen to the songs that were embedded on this here post, let me know what you think!
And let me know what you think about the post in general.
Is it a kind of post you wouldnt mind seeing again?
Or was it a waste of words and bandwidth?
I wanna know. I can take the truth.
Happy weekend everybody.
=)

-Adriana
